PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM*

One of the most important aspects of a successful design/fashion school application is the submission of a portfolio that demonstrates the student's unique vision, talent and personality.  Additionally, each school has particular assignments that are exclusive to the portfolio portion of the school’s application.

With over 30 years of fashion design experience for some of the world’s most prestigious brands, in addition to decades of teaching experience at Parsons School of Design, Susanna is in a distinctive position to help the student cultivate their vision, and build the strongest portfolio possible.

To accomplish this, Susanna and the student will meet for 8-10 sessions per year in person or over Skype, FaceTime or Whatsapp, to collaborate on design and illustration and develop a body of work that will exemplify the student’s skills, and personality.

*This package is included in both the two-year and fast track programs.

THE PROCESS

FINDING THE RIGHT DESIGN SCHOOL / UNIVERSITY

Our consultants bring diverse fashion industry experience and comprehensive knowledge of international design programs, providing informed guidance and expertise in this crucial step of choosing a design school and program.

CRAFTING THE APPLICATION / PORTFOLIO

Applying to design school is much more involved than merely submitting an application. Successfully crafting the application includes a strong student profile, cohesive narrative, focused portfolio, and a personal statement arguing why there is a perfect match between the student and the school.

Our consultants guide the student in writing a compelling essay, compiling a strong CV, and even assist in communicating with the student’s teachers in the development and submission of strong recommendations that highlight the student’s accomplishments / personal strengths. The student will receive extensive feedback and instruction regarding their portfolio, always with an eye toward the particular area(s) of the fashion industry the student is interested in pursuing.

FINALIZING THE APPLICATION

Once the student has chosen which schools to apply, the student and consultant compile the application, review the portfolio requirements, and prepare for any required exams. Each design school has its own unique criteria for application and portfolio submission so the consultants familiarize and prepare the student for each submission.

Once the responses from university admissions committees are received, making a final choice is the next step in the student’s academic career and personal development. It is important for the student and family to make the right choice together. Collaboratively the student, family and consultant weigh the options, relevant factors as well as the student’s goals and aspirations to ensure the best possible outcome.
